Artist Statement

The official definition of art deco is a “movement in the decorative arts and architecture developed into a major style in the United States during the 1930s”. While I attempted to capture that meaning of art deco, I also wanted to emphasize the lasting impact it’s had on our city. From its subtle appearance as an aesthetic skyline to our daily activities, to being a huge tourist attraction. Whether we intentionally notice it or not, art deco has impacted the city we live to create an environment that will be timeless and an aspect of our city for future generations to enjoy.
