Flushing Town Hall is a notable and famous building structure that provides a welcoming community to Flushing residents. I grew up in Flushing and I would notice the Town Hall often. I even entered one of their Rangoli Design contests and won for the teen section. The building has a lot of architectural designs and patterns that appeal to me, which influenced my design choices in this art piece. I recreated the town hall with bright colors and a warm palette to invite the viewer to notice it, just like how the town hall itself is inviting to people. Additionally, I used geometric shapes to capture the architectural design in an art deco manner. I incorporated colors of a sunset with a glowing sun behind the town hall to establish warmth throughout the piece and give comfort. I am proud to live in a neighborhood with this historic art.
