Originally known as the Barclay-Vesey building, or the New York Telephone Building, One Hundred Barclay was designated a New York City Landmark in 1999 and is largely recognized as one of the world’s first Art Deco skyscraper. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

Ralph Walker, architect of this exquisite Art Deco building, made his reputation on the Barclay-Vesey Building—today One Hundred Barclay—in the roaring ’20s. Since then he has been called “the only other honest architect in America” by Frank Lloyd Wright and named “Architect of the Century” by the American Institute of Architects which awarded him the Centennial Medal of Honor in 1957.

Today, the original touches have been restored to new grandeur, found in the vibrant overhead murals depicting the history of human communication that line the ceiling of the vaulted Grand Lobby, and in the intricate and ornate cast bronze detailing of the elevator surrounds.

The building’s exterior and main lobby were restored beginning in 2004 and the top 22 floors renovated beginning in 2013. Today, the 33-story building is home to One Hundred Barclay’s seriously spacious loft residences, now available for immediate occupancy, as well as an eternity of luxury lifestyle amenities.
